19.3 SCORING SYSTEM, PWC 2010

The PWC 2010 scoring system has been developed by Ulric and Eduardo according to the PWCA committee decisions.

All good enough tasks will score 1000 pts based on day quality (Day quality =1, winner’s score = 1000 pts)

The scoring uses nominal distance and nominal time to define the day quality.

The 2010 scoring system will allocate more leading points  than in 2009. More leading points will be available early in the task.

New

17.3 STOPPED TASKS

The criterias to scored a race to goal or elapsed time are :

-1 pilot in goal

or

-1 hour flying time

If valid, the stopped task is scored according to the  « Stop validity ».

Stop validity is defined according to :

-Average distance from goal (more pilots in goal or close to goal = more validity)

-Number of pilots still flying (less pilots still flying  = more validity)

-Pilots spread (less distribution = less validity)

Stopped Elapsed Time and Clockstart :

All pilots are scored with the same flying time : the « minimum available flying time ».

This « minimum available flying time » is the time between the last pilot’s start and the stop time.

E.g. : In a clockstart, some pilots use the last start at 14 :00. The task is stopped at 16 :12. The « minimum available flying time » will be 2 h 12 mn.

ALTITUDE COMPENSATION

When a task is stopped, pilots will receive a compensation according to their altitude above goal height, calculated with a glide ratio of 2 :1.
