27th July 2011 - Bayramoren, Turkey - Day 4 - Morning [11:00]

We added a new turnpoint this morning but, due to a problem with numbers, it initially showed as the north east side of Bucharest (about 700km away !) - some of the pilots thought 700km was a bit long for a task .....

It is now fixed and they are all on the way to takeoff - the weather forecast says we should have a good day.

Task details will be along soon....

26th July 2011 - Bayramoren, Turkey - Day 3 - Task 2 - Cancelled due to building cumulonimbus. [13:55]

For a short while we had a task (55.4 km) but the day is overdeveloping and cumulonimbus have begun to form along the intended route. The day has, therefore, been cancelled and the competitors are returning to the hotel.

26th July 2011 - Bayramoren, Turkey - Day 3 - Morning [09:45]

Last night the storm was a classic - there were groups of pilots sitting by the windows in the hotel just watching the lightning. Unfortunately a lightning strike hit close to the hotel and has afffected some of the computers here - minor problems but it slows us down a bit....take a look at Bruno's video below...

The competitors are off to the south takeoff this morning - the weather forecast indicates a taskable day so we are now waiting for the details from takeoff

More news as it happens

25th July 2011 - Bayramoren, Turkey - Day 2 - Morning [08:10]

There is a front over Bayramoren this morning so the chances of  a task are lower. The local organisation is saying that there is a 50% chance of flying today (later in the day - maybe 1500-1600)

More updates later !

24th July 2011 - Bayramoren, Turkey - Day 1 - Task 1 - Won by Aljaz Valic

It was actually a dead heat - both Aljaz and Stephan Drouin made goal in 2 hours 18 mins 33 secs but the leadout points for the task mean that the highest score goes to Aljaz Valic (Slovenia / ABAC)

Our first woman today with a goal time of 2 hours 39 mins 42 secs is Seiko Fukuoka Naville (France / Les Passagers du Vent)
