Looking for new Sponsors
?!
In order to help pilots to find new partners, Martin Sheel made a general
"sponsorship file"
It includes some texts and pictures especially designed to catch attention.
This file is available in English & German.
Sponsor Documentation
This example of a sponsor documentation folder should help you to find sponsors
The document consists of different parts :
A cover sheet, which is meant to catch the attention of a PR-manger, when the
documentation arrives on his desk. When ever possible this should be printed in very high
quality. This might be a little more
expensive, but it is important to give a professional impression.
Once you got a high quality print of this page, a colour copy might be a cheaper
alternative for the next documentation. It is a good idea to cover this first page with a
transparent sheet e.g. a Xerox slide, this
gives a nice and shiny impression, and protects the document.
- Two colour pages introducing sponsoring in paragliding competitions. For those pages a
standard ink jet quality is probably sufficient. They are available in English or German,
and dont need changes, supposed you use them in countries of these languages.
- Several pages introducing paragliding competitions, the national competition
organisation and proposals for Sponsorship. This part you have to adapt to the conditions
in your country, and to your demands. It
is just meant as a proposal.
- A page about yourself. It is self evident that you got to change this. Try to give a
favourable impression about yourself, and dont forget a nice portrait.
- If available, add several pages with pressreleases and articles in magazines. If you
have a lot of them, create a separate pressbook. If you have videos of TV-broadcasts, wind
them to the hot spots, and send them too.
- Find a nice way to bind the whole document. (Dont just use staples!)
- Add a short letter to the PR-department of the company you wish to contact. Best is if
you already know somebody in this department.
- A few days after your documentation arrived in the company, you should call to present
you personally, and give a sympathetic but professional impression.
Some additional remarks :
- Be realistic, it is hard work to find a sponsor. Dont be frustrated after the
first trials. We are, and will probably stay a small sport with little notice in the
media.
- Almost all our sponsorship came by personal connections.
- We should try to help each other. Every single sponsor helps the sport, not just your
own sponsor. So try to avoid multiple contacts of the same PR-department. Try to
co-ordinate with other pilots in your
area. Maybe it is easier to build a team to find a sponsor.
- Budget time is November, so best is to look for a sponsor in October.
- One of the most important parts of your documentation are press releases. So try to be
as much as possible present in the press and other media throughout the year. The PWC
office will try to keep track of articles in magazines, beginning this year. Probably your
federation has an article service, that is an organisation which sends them all articles
concerning paragliding of the whole country. In Switzerland this organisation is called
ARGUS.
- Martin Scheel will prepare a little work shop concerning Sponsoring in Como on the PWC.

You can directly consult pictures &
texts here, only texts are directly downloadable
Concerning printable pictures (photographic quality) they are too
big to manage them on a web site.
So you need to order a CDRom (PC & Mac)
to the PWCA office.
