1999 PWC Rules modification

Selection based on PWC tasks of the running year :

          PWC Rules Appendix A :

If less than 20% of the participating pilots of a PWC event fly in the Serial Class, only the Open Class ranking of this event is used for selection.

If at least 20% of the pilots register for Serial Class, the A B C D ratings are split relative to the number of pilots participating in each class,
rounded to the next integer number.
This is done by reducing the rating limit between A B C D proportional to the percentage of participating pilots for each class.

Example :
Suppose 66% register for serial Class. So far the top 5 of a single task got an A.
Now the top 2 of the Open Class, and the top 3 of the Serial Class get an A

So far the ranks 6 to 20 became a B, now rank 4 to 13 of the Serial Class get B, and rank 3 to 7 of the Open Class get B.
And so on...

Cancellation of a task :
PWC Rule 22.

When the Task is cancelled, the pilots in goal before cancellation, providing they are 20 at goal, keep their points,
including the pilots who arrive 5 minutes after cancellation.
Pilots not reaching goal get the points equivalent to a pilot that would arrive in goal 10 minutes after the goal closes.
(Landing time = cancellation time + 15min).

Validation of a task :
PWC Rule 21 = Skip Point 3.

Explanation :

A pilot flying in Serial Class gets a C, if his rank at a 1999 PWC single task is between the 6th - 8th position

In case of using a prototype, the needed documentation is :

1) Each glider must have a serial number for identification.

2) The shock & load tests (corresponding to the glider’s model, not for each size).
Model means : Same line configuration and line diameters as the tested prototype.

3) A manufacturer’s certificate guaranteeing that the prototypes meets the AFNOR competition standards.

4) The line plan of the glider

5) The constructor’s agreement for a nominated pilot to fly with this glider.

If the manufacturer wants a certificate, the testing organism has to keep the glider as guarantee. Many manufacturers want to get
back their prototypes. The manufacturers undertake to pass their glider at the DHV or CEN shock & load tests and
that they will produce a certificate on one's honour. If the manufacturers want to make the tested glider flying again,
it is COMPULSORY to change all the lines of this canopy.
