PWCA Information letter after FIESCH

Dear Pilotes, Sponsors and Organisors,

The PWCA committee met twice during the PWC competition in Fiesch. We prepared the agenda of the next General Assembly that will take place in Garmisch Partenkirchen on August the 6th, 1998. You will receive this agenda end of June. I also invite you all to come in a large number or to be represented by another pilot of your choice (Proxy).

As the PWCA president, Olivier Burghelle will be present during the whole competition, he intends to organise a meeting on August the 5th, 1998 for the PWCA sponsors and manufacturers (the exact schedule and place will be communicated there) if you have any suggestions or remarks, please don’t hesitate to come to this meeting!

We also worked on the 1999 PWC calendar. We absolutely have to finalise the official calendar this summer before the general assembly, so all potential organisers have to send their bid to the PWCA Office before August the 1st, 1998.

We also intend to organise an acrobatic committee and to organise 2 or 3 acrobatic competitions during the 1999 season. These competitions will be independent or they will be organised at the same time as a PWC event.

After reading the first results from the Pilots & manufacturers’ Inquiry and further to Robby Whittal’s proposal " Formula 1 " and to the CIVL project concerning load tests on prototypes, we are assessing the feasibility and the interest to introduce a competition paraglider classification and to create eventually a standard class.

The filming company ALTO produced several films that you have certainly seen during the PWC in Monte Cornizzolo – Italy. These films were broadcasted on several national and international channels. They will be very soon available at the PWCA Office. Martin Cray also suggests a special production for pilots and/or national teams and to send the rushes the next week. If you would like to have more information, please contact directly ALTO :

Fred Escriba has been accepted as "Advisor" for the PWCA Internet site and everybody congratulated him for his work.

We also remind you that a competition "Touch & Go – Beach Race" which will be a media event will take place in Lokken – Denmark from August the 12th to the 16th, 1998. Registrations will be made through the PWCA Office.

In accordance with the PWCA statutes and to ensure the continuity of the committee, we have to re-elect 3 members of the board every year.

Moreover, Paul Tomassi, has just informed us, he is resigning, so we are also looking for a new treasurer.

These persons may be re-elected or may be replaced by some other persons who are applying. If someone is interested to join the PWCA committee, please send us an application letter with your motivations before June the 25th.
